What is the Passport to Success?
The Passport is a record of your child's progress through their D&T projects during Years 7&8.
The rationale is to bring greater parental involvement in their child's work by commenting on their products and giving a written comment.
Over time these teacher/parent/student comments will build a picture of each student's progress and achievement within D&T lessons.
For every project their class teacher will record a set of scores based on how well your child has done in their project.
Your child has been given an aspirational target grade for D&T.
In D&T we will test assess your child’s ability in four skill areas:
1. Design and Creativity
2. Manufacture and Planning
3. Evaluation and Testing
4. Communication and Literacy.
We refer to the criteria on the inside back cover but take an holistic view of their work to come to an overall assessed Skill Level.
We are assessing how well your child is able to work safely, independently and skilfully.
Higher levels of skill are indicative of higher GCSE grades.
Please refer to the document to the right for our overall skill descriptions.
Please can you fill in middle right section of the form with a comment about your child’s work and add a suitable expression to the face that expresses how you feel about how well they have done in the project.
